Our Ethos

The Lighthouse Nursery believes that children learn valuable skills through play and this is the foundation on which we base all of the children's experiences.

We follow a relaxed daily routine which is:

  • flexible enough to meet the needs and feelings of the children
  • structured enough to provide the interest and variety which stimulates development

We believe that Nursery Education is complimentary to the home environment as it provides children with:

  • the opportunity to learn how to make friends and acquire social skills
  • the opportunity to learn educational skills such as early reading, writing and numeracy as well as developing an understanding of the world and learning creative and physical skills

The value of high quality care

We understand that you want the best for your child and our aim is to deliver the very highest possible standards of childcare. We do this by:

  • employing caring and motivated staff who are all either qualified or currently undertaking a qualification
  • ensuring that the percentage of qualified staff is 85% or above (which significantly exceeds Ofsted's minimum requirement of 50%)
  • fully implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage www.foundationyears.org.uk/
  • providing an extremely wide range of resources and experiences both indoors and outdoors
  • working in partnership with our parents
  • operating an enhanced keyworker system
  • providing experienced and knowledgable support for children with special educational needs and disabilities
  • including all children, treating them equally and with respect
  • providing home cooked, balanced and tasty meals prepared with fresh ingredients

Safeguarding & Child Protection Statement

The nursery always tries to act in the best interests of all children and we carry out our responsibilities in accordance with the law. Parents should therefore be aware that, under the Childcare Act, 2006 and the Counter Terrorism and Security Act, 2015, all nurseries must act to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

Therefore, if our nursery has a concern about the welfare of a child (including risk from neglect, physical, emotional or sexual abuse or radicalisation), we will first seek to discuss this with the parent or carers (unless by doing so it would place the child at increased risk of significant harm or cause undue delay). If there is still cause for concern, the law requires nursery staff to pass this information on so, in these circumstances, we will refer to Children’s Social Care at Warwickshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (known as MASH).
